MacKay, John Malcolm Age 94 of White Bear Lake died peacefully on April 13. Preceded in death by wife of 42 years Irene; two brothers, William and Neil. Survived by nieces and nephews, Lisa (Donald) Longpre, Peter (Debbie), Rod, Bruce (Sheri) MacKay; sister-in-law Virginia MacKay. John was born in International Falls, MN. He lived in Big falls, MN before moving to the Twin Cities where he lived in St. Anthony Park and Robbinsdale. He Graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1940 and joined the Army National Guard in 1941. He served five years with the Army during World War II including service in the European Theater. After the war he attended the University of Minnesota where he studied architecture and went on to receive a degree from Lawrence Institute of Technology in South Ville, Michigan. He worked for Dayton-Hudson-Target for 18 years, supervising construction of their stores and distribution centers in the central United States from Texas to Minnesota. John and Irene were married in 1971. He met her when she was working for North Central Airlines and he was working for a contractor associated with the airline. John enjoyed golfing and going to apple orchards with friends. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May11 at 11:30am at St. Pius X Church, 3778 Highland Ave, White Bear Lake; visitation 1 hour prior; lunch following mass. The family wishes to thank the staff at Cerenity Care Center and Health East Hospice for their loving care and support.
