Raich, John Jerry, M.D. Born Dec. 9, 1929, Springfield, Ill. Died peacefully at home on April 1, 2017, Edina, MN, at 87 years. Predeceased by father, Edwin John Raich; mother LouEva Anderson Raich of Springfield, IL.; brother Robert Anderson Raich, M.D. of Kansas City, MO. Survived by wife, MaryJane Eaves-Raich; children-Ruth (Ann), Pauline (Chris), Fred, Martin (Ella), Will (Fiona), Ted (Julie), and Charles (Janae); grandchildren-Joe, Frank, Amanda, Dylan, Jacob, Alyssa, Brandon and Conner; also by Robert's wife Nancy; niece Louisa (Greg); nephew John (Lisa) of Kansas City; many other extended family and special friends; Penny C. Fairview Home Health; and Ruth S-K., APRN, CNP Fairview Complex Care Clinic whose wise and gentle help meant so much. Jerry graduated from Springfield, Ill High School, Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Ill., interned at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and pathology residency at University of MN. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army for two years as physician in 802d Field Artillery Battalion in Germany. Jerry worked 40 years as Pathologist at Fairview hospitals. He lived a life filled with family and friends. He was a beloved son, brother, student, soldier, doctor, husband, teacher, father and mentor. He loved books, wrote poetry, enjoyed music, photography, gardening, travel and laughter. He was a student of history and an admirer of Abraham Lincoln. Jerry was a strong believer in the value of all people. He identified with his Scottish heritage and the family motto, Stand Sure.
