Martin, Mary N. Age 84, of Mpls., passed away March 27, 2017. Mary was born July 27, 1932 in St. Charles, Minnesota and was a member of the Episcopal Church all her life. She graduated as an RN from Northwestern Hospital. She was married to Phil for 26 years. She worked as a caregiver all her life starting with their children and ending with clients in adult psychology. Her final work day was four days before her lung cancer diagnosis, at which point she said, "I suppose I'll have to quit now." She was a vibrant life force and in the end was surrounded by the family and friends she loved that loved her back. Mary was predeceased by parents Harold and Margaret Nilles, her soul mate Jeffery Van Sant, and grandson Jeremy Stark. Surviving relatives include sister Peggy (Jerry) and their three children; her children, Philip (Therese), Elizabeth (Tom), Peter (Lydia), and Paul (Susie); thirteen grandchildren, John, Eric, Paul, Ruth, Zachary, Joseph, Adam, Anna, Olivia, Hope, Luke, Noah, and Seth; six great grandchildren, Jeremy, Tommy, Logan, Asher, Azariah, and Eva; and Jeffrey's sons Tom and Jake Van Sant. Mary requested no gladiolas, her "death flowers". Donations may be made to the charity of your choosing. Life Celebration Service to be held at Gethsemane Episcopal Church, 905 S 4th Ave, Minneapolis on April 1 at 2 pm.
