Grimes, Charles Edgar 95, formerly of Bloomington, died Feb. 28 at home in Andover MN. His wife of 58 years, Jane, and son-in-law, Thomas Mangen, preceded him in death. He is survived by three children: Nancy (Twig), Linda Mangen, and Paul (Shelly); four grandchildren; and seven great grand children. Charlie was raised in Kuna Idaho, and served in the Army Air Forces during WWII. He earned a BA from the College of Idaho and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Technical Institute and worked at Minneapolis Moline, Toro, Ryan Turf, and Tennant, where he collaborated on over 60 patents. Charlie was a longtime member of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church (HAUMC) where he and Jane were volunteers for decades. He loved traveling and was a voracious reader. He was a compassionate caregiver for his wife until her death in 2010. A memorial service will take place Sat. March 4 at HAUMC at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HAUMC or charity of choice.
