Gail Janette Laurie

Laurie, Gail Janette "The Lady Loved Animal Prints" age 77 of Southwest Minneapolis, transitioned to life with her maker on December 8th, 2016. Gail, a proud Hibbing native of Italian heritage, was a force of life, constantly on the move; biking, golfing, walking, working in her garden and still, at the age of 74, rollerblading around her beloved Lake Harriet. She was the first to welcome you to the neighborhood, happily ready to regale you with the exploits of her amazing life. She was generous and giving, never saying no to a neighbor or friend who needed help with gardening or yardwork, housecleaning or care-giving, especially if the caregiving involved an animal. In 2012 she was recognized by the Fulton Neighborhood Association, for that thoughtfulness and caring with the Fulton Good Neighbor Award. She attracted people with her beautiful smile and outgoing personality, and could claim dear friends back to her childhood. She believed in doing a job well, working for the Minneapolis School District until her retirement at age 60. More than anything, she enjoyed life and looked forward to each new day's adventure. Gail is preceded by her father and mother, Archie and Julie Passeri. She is survived by her son Scott Laurie of Hawaii, her grandson and grand-daughter-in-law, William (Billy) and Jessica Laurie of Burnsville, and 4 great grandchildren, her sister, Sharon Morin and niece, Wendy Morin, of California, as well as a myriad of devoted friends. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. A celebration for Gail will be held at 1:00PM on January 21, 2017 at Unity South, 7950 First Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55420.
