Mary Kramer

Kramer, Mary Mary Kramer was born 4/27/1918 in Artas, SD and died on 12/26/2016 at The Glenn in Hopkins at age 98. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her sisters, Sister Mary Rose, Julia Mathern, Christine Meier, Margaret Schatz, her brother Eugene Schatz and son-in-law Charles Kaufhold. She is survived by brother John Schatz, age 92, sisters Rose Mitzel, 100 and Betty Brandner, 88, daughters, Patricia Johnson (Jerry), Mary Ellen Manske (Bob), Margaret Kaufhold and Rita Curtin. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Martin Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Amy Ries, Karl Manske, Katie Paulson, Joshua Kaufhold, Kris Kaufhold, Anthony Kaufhold, Josef Kaufhold, Evan Curtin, Ian Curtin and 15 great-grandchildren. Mary grew up on the farm near Zeeland, ND with parents, John and Margaret Schatz and eight siblings. She moved to Minneapolis during WWII where she worked at St. Mary's hospital. After her fiancé John was discharged in October, 1945, they were married on November 28, 1945. They moved into a new home in St. Louis Park, raised 4 daughters and were active in church activities at Holy Family Catholic Church. In 2002 they moved to St. Therese (now The Glenn) in Hopkins. Mary was an avid gardener at home and at their lake home on Granite Lake. She canned tomatoes, pickles and made choke-cherry jam from the fruits of her garden. She baked well into her 80's especially at Christmas. She loved to play bridge and did so well into her nineties. Mary was a friend to many, a good neighbor, a devout Catholic and most of all a wonderful mother. We love you Mom. We miss you. We will always remember that you told us, "Better days are coming." Rest in peace.
