Janet Elaine Amundson

Amundson, Janet Elaine age 76, of Nisswa went to her Lord on November 13, 2016. The following remem- brance was written by Harlen Amundson, Janet's husband, who passed away December 5, 2015: Janet was born on September 16, 1940 at home in Colfax, Wisconsin with a birth weight of two pounds and twelve ounces. Her twin sister Jean, weighing three pounds two ounces, passed away at birth. Dr. Felland had a local craftsmen build an incubator for Janet, heated with a light bulb, and she was fed with an eye dropper. With loving care she grew to normal weight and was very healthy. Janet graduated from Colfax High School and attended Wisconsin State University at Eau Claire. She married Harlen Amundson on August 5th, 1961. Janet taught Sunday School and was always assisting in the elementary schools attended by the children. She was an excellent cook, and loved to prepare a classic Norwegian Christmas Eve dinner, and the tradition is being continued by the children. Fishing walleyes on Gull Lake was a favorite pastime, and she enjoyed fishing with Walleye Dan when her husband was traveling. She made several trips to Europe with her husband on business, and London was her favorite city. She enjoyed Sunday worship at Westminster Abbey, exploring the shopping in Cologne, Germany and viewing the Swiss Alps. And further remembrances from Janet's daughters: Nana adored her precious grandchildren and expressed her love in many ways. She carefully selected books for them, which they treasured and helped foster their love of reading. She baked them the most delectable treats, and showered them with hugs. Janet had a special ability to easily make friends wherever she went, and would light up the room with her presence and her smile. We cherish the memories of accompanying her to her favorite places and meeting the people she touched, and evenings at Bar Harbor where she and Harlen would turn heads when they engaged in a waltz. Our Mom established important family traditions which bind us together today and we will continue to honor her through them. We will miss her love, her laughter and her caring ways, and will treasure her memory throughout our lives. We are extremely grateful for each and every person at Heritage House of Pequot Lakes and Regina Health Center in Ohio who provided exceptional care for our mom. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Hazel Larson, twin (infant) sister Jean, brothers Orville and Charles, and sister Helen. Janet is survived by her daughters Kari of Minneapolis, Pamela (Joel) and grandchildren Erik, Caroline, Grace, and Karl of Richfield OH, Jill (Matthew) and grandchildren Sophia and Garrett of Scarborough, ME, and sister Sue. Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00PM on Thursday December 29 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN.
