Alan Robert Anderson

Anderson, Alan Robert Minnetonka, born March 6, 1920, died October 17, 2016, age 96. Predeceased by daughter Martha Anderson Ireland (Earl). Survived by wife of 69 years, Helen Raynolds Anderson; children Wells (Ellen) and Jane Howard; sister-in-law Virginia Raynolds Humphrey; grandchildren Nathan Alan Anderson and Nora Anderson (Hernan Riera); great grandchildren Karen and Alex Riera Anderson; much loved extended family of Ericksons, Humphreys and Raynoldses. Deep believer in value of liberal arts education and always grateful for his education at Blake School, Harvard College and Harvard Business School; third generation owner of Anderson's China Shop, Nicollet Mall, Southdale, Wayzata; lifelong intellectual curiosity for history, theology, politics, nutrition, global population balance and philosophy; community involvement included chairing Minneapolis Retailers Assoc, MN Assoc. for Mental Health and World Population Balance, board member Lakewinds Food Co-op and member Fox & Hounds breakfast club; fierce tennis competitor, fearless mountain skier, marathon runner starting at age 60; enjoyed multiple European trips with Helen and final adventure to Borneo; loved summers at Madeline Island with family, friends and wayward basset hounds.
