Swann, Gayle L. (Fraser) was born and raised in Mankato, MN and died of a sudden heart attack in her home in NE Minneapolis at the age of 69. Daughter of Dayle and Bernard Fraser, and sister to Sandra, Joedey, Lucinda, Dean and Tom. Gayle was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Sibling, Daughter, Companion, Friend, Coworker and Neighbor. She was a vivacious reader and loved to travel, meet new people and learn about the world. Even from a very young age she was more than generous with her time, skills, knowledge, wisdom, and energy. Gayle dedicated large parts of her life to fighting for equal rights for all. She was on the front lines in the marches on Washington for a woman's right to choose, the ERA, Affirmative Action and the stopping of the war in Vietnam. In 1979 she ran for Mayor of Minneapolis as a Socialist and drew much praise and recognition for her strength, character and forward thinking views. She gained the trust and respect of fellow railroad workers and management alike as a strong union leader and workers advocate in her 30 + years with the BNSF. Gayle was a strong woman with a kind and giving heart. A force to be reckoned with for sure. A force for justice, fair play and equal treatment. Gayle adored her Son, Monte, Daughter-in-law, Christine, and her love for them was matched or exceeded only by the love of her grandchildren, Isadora and Arlo. She will truly be missed by all.
