Stahlke, Elaine J. of Waconia, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016. She was 84 years old. Elaine was born on January 1, 1932. She was the first baby born in Carver County that year. Her parents, Erwin P. and Luella C. (Zieroth) Stahlke, owned the Maple Store. Elaine graduated from Waconia High School in 1949 and married Calvin Schwalbe in 1951. They raised four children together before their marriage ended in 1985. Elaine was active in the International Toastmistress Club and traveled to many of their conventions. She held positions with Edina Public Schools, Junior Achievement, Henkel, and Driasi. Elaine enjoyed her retirement. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and play bridge. Preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Luella Stahlke; daughter Julie Rollins; sister-in-law Helen Stahlke. Survived by her loving family: sister Donna (Jim) Harriman; brothers and sister-in-law Larry Stahlke, Lowell and Charlotte Stahlke; children Sandra (David) Hayner, Lynn (Matt) Cody, Carol Bliss; grandchildren Tom, Jackie, Laura, Steven, Jon, Joshua, Angie (Richard), Cary, John, Eileen, Jenny; great-grandchildren Adelyn, Giuliano; beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; dear friends at Evergreen, Auburn Meadows, and Sterling Ponds. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8 at the Waconia Moravian Church, 209 East 2nd Street, Waconia. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment at a later date.
