Swenson, Donald B., MD Of Spring Park, MN, formerly of White Bear Lake and St. Paul. Donald Bjork Swenson went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 24, 2016, at the age of 92. We celebrate his life on earth and how he touched the lives of many. Born in St. Paul to Perry A. and Agnes B. Swenson. Loving husband of Geraldine R. Swenson (Rohland) for 58 years. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers John P. Swenson and Carl A. Swenson. He is survived by brother Sidney A. Swenson of Osceola, WI, children, Janet Swenson Lima (Josias) of Plymouth, MN, Stephen R. Swenson (Joann Hall) of Mound, MN and Peter B. Swenson (Michelle) of Eden Prairie, MN; and six grandchildren, Andrea Lima, Sonia Lima Morrall (Alex), Leah and Chloe Swenson, Christian and Autumn Swenson. Don grew up in St. Paul, was an Eagle Scout, served as an Army Surgical Technician in Europe during World War II, and completed his undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Minnesota. He practiced medicine with St. Paul Internists for 39 years with a special interest in adult cardiology. Don served on the University of Minnesota Medical School Admissions Committee, on church councils, and on the board of Union Gospel Mission. In more recent years, he served on the Bethesda Hospital History Center Committee and assisted with development for Bethesda and the HealthEast Foundation. Together with his wife, Gerry, he received the HealthEast Roger Foussard Caring Neighbor Award in May 2014. Don loved music. A clarinetist, he played in the University of Minnesota concert and marching bands as a student and later was a member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Band. He played in a small German band, Bonrud's Bavarians, and in his latter years was a member of the Minnetonka Civic Orchestra and played with various groups at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior. Don also composed music, including many hymns, carols and classical pieces. Many thanks to Dr. Mary Miley of Park Nicollet Health Services and the staff of Presbyterian Homes, Lake Minnetonka Shores, for their wonderful care and support. We, his children, are grateful for Dad's dedication to his family, legacy of faith, integrity, kindness and humor. We look forward to being reunited with him in heaven. Service 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 8, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior, MN. Visitation 11:00 am 1:00 pm at the church. Private family interment at a later date.
