Claire (Christopher) MacLennan

MacLennan, Claire (Christopher) age 87, of Edina, passed away peacefully 9/23/16. Survived by John, devoted husband of 66 years; son, Christopher (Nancy); granddaughters, Kimberley MacLennan and Karen (Mike) Johnson; great-grandson, Kyle Johnson; sister, Nancy Underdahl; sisters-in-law, Norma Christopher, Phyllis Mac-Lennan and Ann Bailly; extended family & friends. Preceded in death by brother, Robert Christopher. Claire grew up in the country club area of Edina and lived in the city for most of her life. She attended Wooddale School for grades K-9 and graduated from West High. She earned an AA from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she met her future husband and was an active sister in Gamma Phi Beta. Claire was an avid golfer, softball coach, and lover of all sports. She enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook, hostess, & card player. Claire volunteered for 30 years at St. Barnabas Hospital and was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she participated in choir, altar guild, estate sales, and women's activities. Over the years, Claire and John frequently traveled around Europe and the United States. She had a particular passion for Italy and Spain, and visited 49 state capitals and numerous Presidential Libraries. Claire was a lifelong dog lover and cherished the years she had with beloved pups Nicholas and Lucky. Most of all, she loved her family. We will always remember her sense of humor, beautiful blue eyes & enthusiasm for life. Memorial service Friday, October 7, 11 AM, St. Stephen the Martyr, 4439 W. 50th St., Edina.
