Bruce Edward Wahlberg

Wahlberg, Bruce Edward Born in Dell Grove Township, Sandstone, MN on November 26, 1924. Died on September 22, 2016 after a brief illness at age 91. He was the 10th child of Bert and Lillie (Stenson) Wahlberg and lived until age 90 on the farm his father homesteaded in the early 1900's. He took over the farm when he returned from WWII in 1946. In 1944 he saw action in the Philippines as a member the of the Leyte Island invasion force during the decisive Battle of Leyte Gulf serving in the 11th Marine 155mm Gun Battalion. He was preceded in death by wives, Katherine (Haas) and Joyce (Kleven); brothers, Leonard, Arnold, Lee, and Roy; sisters, Clara, Helen, Esther and Norma. He is survived by his sister, Hazel Vork of Sandstone; brother, Dean (Marilyn) of Woodbury; brother-in-law, Alfred Haas of Carver; son, Ron of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Sonja (Joe) Hendrickson, Joe (Katie); great-grandchildren. Sam, Lillie, Ada and Celia; daughter Linda (John) Jenneke of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Tim (Tiffany) Jenneke, Jill (Ben) Pennings; great grandchildren, Luke, Annie, Matt and Lucy; step-children, Glen (Patti) and Dan (Rosemary), Candace Kleven and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation at Methven Funeral Home Sandstone, MN on Sunday September 25 from 6-8 PM, and at Grace Lutheran Church Sandstone, MN on Monday September 26 from 10-11 AM. Funeral Service at 11 AM followed by lunch at the church and a processional to Dell Grove Cemetery at 12:30 PM for interment. Memorials preferred to the Sandstone Lions Scholarship Fund.
