Frank E. Pilley, III

Pilley, Frank E. III age 81, died peacefully at home on August 28th. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank E. Pilley, Jr. and Marie Cotter Pilley, brother Mark E. Pilley and nephew David Mark Eblen. He is survived by wife Mary Kay; children Brooke & Tarek, Katy & Johnny; grandchildren Adam, Mimi & Nick; sister Jane (David) Eblen; nieces and nephews Kate, Molly, Heather, Chrissy, Billy, Geoffrey and Danny. Born in New York City, Frank grew up in the Midwest. He attended Wentworth Military Academy, studied economics at Centre College and the University of Missouri and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. After serving in the Army, Frank worked as a plastics engineer at Novamont Corp and later in the securities industry. He was an Eagle Scout, held a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating, loved skiing, traveling, cooking and annual family sailing trips. Frank instilled a love of Lake Minnetonka and of sailing in his children and grandchildren. Frank will be buried in the autumn at a private family ceremony with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held at the Huber Funeral Home in Excelsior from 2:00 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, September 4th, 2016.
