Anne (nee Serdar) McCloskey

McCloskey, Anne (nee Serdar) Anne, age 95, lived a full life! She died peacefully on Aug. 24 in her Anoka home. Born June 2, 1921 in DeKalb, IL to Paul and Mary Serdar. Preceded in death by parents and brothers Jack and Paul and sisters Madeline, Eve, and Agnes and husband Lyle of 62 years. Survived by brother Robert and sister Violet; seven children: Thomas (Vicki), Linda (Vincent) Manning, Lee Anne (James) Clauer, Michael (Frances), Douglas (Irma), Susan (Keith) Fletcher, Jeffrey (Lindy) and 17 grandchildren: Matt and Regina; Nick, Dan and Tony; Lauren and Rob; Anna and Logan; Cesar, Lyle and Annamarie; Aspen, Zachary, Jack, Miles and Benjamin, and their spouses; 7 great-grandchildren: Gavin, Tyara, Ravel, Sylvia, Vienna, Eiko and Mitsue and many nephews and nieces, especially Judy, Cathy, Liz, Mary, and Nancy. Graduate of Waukegan HS. While working at Abbott Labs, she met Lyle at a dance for WW II service men. Anne and Lyle loved dancing to the big bands. She returned to work at age 50 at Connexus Energy, retired at age 75 and continued there part-time until age 80. An avid reader, Anne bowled until age 90 and enjoyed great times with the "Domino Girls". Anne loved her Ponto Lake cabin, but treasured most being with her family. Anne's secret to her longevity: I'm always ready to party! Thanks to Cindy and Monica and Allina Hospice for her excellent care. Memorial service Friday, September 2, at 4:00 pm, St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka, MN 55303 visitation at 3:00 pm. Private interment was held at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
