Benz, John, Jr. Age 91, of Mound, passed away Aug. 23, 2016. He served in WWII in Naval aviation, and in ND National Guard and Navy Reserve for 11 years after the war. John had a 33-year career with Soo Line Railroad. He was an energetic community volunteer, avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and loved the outdoors. He was active in VFW and American Legion. Preceded in death by wife, Helen, parents John and Mary Benz, sisters Marville Foss and Pauline Townsend, and brothers Lyle and Milton Benz. Survived by brother Gordon Benz, daughters Gerry Graham (Bill), Julie Leiter (Jim), grandchildren Trevor and Trent Graham, Perry Leiter (Erica), Heather Knight (Todd), and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service Sept. 6, 11 a.m., with visitation 1 hour before, at Huber Chapel, 1801 Commerce Blvd., Mound (952-472-1716), huberfunerals.com.
