Anderson, LaVaine "Mervie" Age 83 of Burnsville, passed away on August 23, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Muriel & Bennett Sorum; sister, RoMayne O'Keefe. Survived by the love of her life, husband, Harry; children, Debra (John) Nauman, Catherine (Kirk) Lilligren, Patricia (Paul) Jakupciak, David and Laurie (Rory) Carr, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 siblings and numerous relatives. Born 8/18/33, a twin, at Pelican Rapids, MN where she graduated from High School in 1951. She worked in Fergus Falls as Secretary/Bookkeeper and later moved to Mpls. where she was employed by NWBell Co. before working as a real estate agent and an Avon Rep for 40+ yrs. She was very active in Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader and Service Unit Chairperson. LaVaine was known to be a fiercely independent defender of her beliefs; honest, reliable and devoted to family. She was a wonderful seamstress and has left behind numerous hand sewn gifts made for family. She was an avid puzzler, enjoyed a good book, fishing from the dock, boat or shore and watching David pitch baseball. Her beautiful flower gardens always drew raves from friends and she used to say that time spent there doesn't come off your "life clock". Her greatest joy was watching her family grow and bloom. Memorial service 11AM (visitation 10AM) Tues., Aug. 30th at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13901 Fairview Dr. Burnsville. Visitation 5-8PM Mon., Aug. 29th also at the church. Private Interment Ft.
