Nancy C. Tracy

Tracy, Nancy C. (age 96), last residing at St. Therese New Hope, died on July 21, 2016. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, James F. Tracy (died 2010), her parents Elizabeth and Alexander Crawford, her sister Elizabeth Sands and a grandchild, David Marsh. Nancy is survived by 5 children and spouses, Joanne (Edward) Marsh, James A. (Mary) Tracy, Peter J. Tracy, Thomas M. (Louise) Tracy and Michael J. (Julie) Tracy. In addition Nancy had 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Nancy was born on December 11, 1919 in Chicago, IL. She was a bright student and attended Catholic schools, graduating from Trinity High School in River Forest IL. She attended Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest, IL. In 1943 she married James F. Tracy. Soon thereafter Jim was shipped out for a three year tour of duty with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning, Nancy and Jim set off on an adventure through life that included owning nine homes in four different states. Favorite communities included Wilmette, IL, Glad-wynne, PA, Short Hills, NJ, and Edina, MN. Nancy and Jim were committed to their Catholic religion and Catholic schools. The children attended 16 different Catholic schools. All five children graduated from Catholic Universities. Nancy touched the lives of many friends everywhere she went in life. She was a beautiful lady who was proud of her Irish heritage and loved her hometown of Chicago, IL. She was a great cook, competitive bridge player and loved to laugh. Her self confidence, positive attitude and genuine interest in people connected with everyone who knew her. She was a rock and inspiration to us all. Mom, we love you and will miss you. Funeral service Wednesday 11 AM at Our Lady of Grace, 5071 Eden Ave, Edina. Visitation Tuesday 4-6 PM at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
