Severt Chester 'Chet' Rask

Rask, Severt "Chet" Chester age 80, of Zimmerman and formerly Rockford, passed away on July 14, 2016. He was born on April 21, 1936 in Cathay, ND the sixth son of Severt and Lula (Flanders) Rask. He was baptized on May 24, 1936 in Cathay, ND. On October 25, 1958, Joan M. Swanson and Severt C. Rask were joined in holy marriage at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with three children Mark, Mary and Melanie. Chet was a faithful member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Zimmerman/Princeton. Chet's working career began as a buttermaker at the Monticello Creamery in 1955. He then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 and the Army Reserves from 1958-1962. Upon returning he worked at Napco Industries from 1958-1965. Chet attended Brown Institute for 18 mo. and then began working at NW Bell Telephone until his retirement in 1991. For 25 years Chet served as a volunteer fireman for the city of Rockford. He loved fishing, camping, fish frys, a cold beer and his pipe. He also truly enjoyed golfing, dancing, hunting, going to casinos, listening to country and old time music, watching all sports, especially football and wrestling. Chet always kept his yard neatly manicured to look just like a golf course. He was a "Chet" of all trades and could fix anything! He also loved traveling with his family and visited all fifty states. He was a dedicated, caring and loving man that was always there when he was needed. His special winks that "said it all" will be greatly missed. Chet is dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Survived by children: Mark S. (DeAnn) Rask of Boonville, MO, Mary J. (Rick) Kramer of Foreston, MN and Melanie A. (Todd) Liljenquist of Bloomington; grandchildren: Andrew S. (Monica) Rask, Laura M. (Eric) Mitchell, Michael S. Rask, Tannar S. Kramer, Tessa C. (Brandon) Rush, Sam D. (Angela) Kramer, Tim W. (Marquerita) Kramer, Grace L. Liljenquist, Alex J. Liljenquist, Caroline J. Liljenquist and Elizabeth M. Elford; great grandchildren: Sammy T. Kramer, Alden & Reeve Kramer, Daisy A. Rush, Catherine Rush, Brandon J. Rush, Millie Kramer and Lillian D. Rask; brothers Harlan (Betty) Rask, Laurel (Bonnie) Rask, Larry (Pat) Rask; also other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by wife of 58 years Joan Mary; parents Severt & Lula Rask; brothers Charles, Virgil & Elwood; sisters Margaret and Lucille; sisters-in-law Della & Verdella Rask, Ann Kuka Dahl; brothers-in-law George Rotz, William Linhart, Allen Swanson, Raymond Kuka & Elvis Dahl. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 25909 4th Street W, Zimmerman. Reception to follow at church.
