Huttner, William L. age 78, of Minnetonka, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 17, 2014. We mourn his loss but will celebrate his life on Friday, April 25 at the Washburn-McReavy Chapel, 1400 Main Street, Hopkins, MN 55343. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 am followed by a 1 pm memorial service. He was born to Les and Jerry Huttner on September 19, 1935 in Minneapolis. Bill, a "Self-Made Man", overcame many obstacles, including polio at age 7. He was treated for many months by Sister Kenny herself at the Kenny Institute. Bill graduated from Hopkins High School and then learned engineering skills on the job. He eventually became a business owner at MN Store Equipment in Minnetonka. His personable style and commitment to his word helped build the company. Bill was an active member of the Hopkins Elks Club for over 40 years and served as a Trustee for 13 years. On September 2, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Smith and they raised five children. Bill was known for his generosity and his gentle soul. He loved spending time with his family, especially at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; children, Michael (Cindy), Vicki (Greg Baltmiskis), Leanne, Steve (Tami) and Jim (Sue); grandchildren, Dana, William, Jacob, Melody, Jacqueline, Fritz and Mitchell.
