James Michael Hance

Hance, James Michael 75, was in a fatal car accident and passed away April 16, 2014. He is survived by wife Mary; children Jeff (Danielle), Pete (Paula), Julie, Robert (Melissa), Angie, Angela, and Arnie; grandchildren Alex, Clara, Theo, Oliver, Emma, Kirsten, Liliana, Noah, and 9th grandchild on the way; siblings Dee (Dick), Lee (Pat), Joan (Bill), Craig (Karen), Robyn (Nick), Scott (Cathy), Nancy (Dave), Samra, and Ricky; former wife Pat; and preceeded in death by his brothers Ed and Tom (Margie). Jim was born in Dorothy, MN, and was a resident of Brooklyn Park. A graduate of St. Thomas and a member of the U.S. Army, Jim was also active in the Hopkins Rotary for 50 years with perfect attendence and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his backyard pond and landscaping, his pool, cabin and pontoon, and had the brightest Christmas light display on the cul de sac. Tuesday night was set aside for the bowling league and one long weekend a year was reserved for a fishing trip in Canada with relatives. Most people dread work, but Jim loved his Hance Ace Hardware store in Hopkins. He was a 3rd generation hardware store owner. Visitation Saturday, April 19, 4-8 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM all at Washburn-McReavy Hopkins Chapel. Interment Monday, April 21, 12:30 PM, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls, Lane #4, followed by a luncheon at 2 PM at Tuttle's in Hopkins.
