As a young bride, Helen attended and worked at the University of Montana. A capable person and learner, she obtained a paralegal certificate later in life at the University of Minnesota and then worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Minneapolis until retirement. Nonjudgmental, socially progressive and with a sense of justice, Helen encouraged her daughters in all ways and made numerous sacrifices on their behalf. A beautiful person inside and out, she had good common sense and good fashion sense. Helen was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and was a past member of the AAUW.
