Robert Hagen 'Bob' Rockwood

Rockwood, Robert "Bob" Hagen age 91, of Lakeville, died May 27. Bob was born on February 27, 1925 to Dagny and George Rockwood in Mpls. He was raised in a family-built home on the shores of Lake Superior. He left high school early to enlist in the navy, serving 3 years as a Signalman 2C. He met his true love at the Jolly Fisher in Duluth. After a year of courting, Genevieve Lepeska said "yes." They were married in 1950, started their family in outstate Minnesota, but eventually returned to Duluth in 1960, where they lived for 25 years. Bob sold insurance for Prudential for 30 years. In 1970, he and Gen purchased a lake home in northern Wisconsin which would become the source of many fond family memories. Bob and Gen retired to Palm Harbor, FL. They enjoyed golf and socializing. Bob was elected Commodore of the "Yacht Club" and was the social ambassador for countless friends. Bob and his bride eventually made their way back to Minnesota. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years, Genevieve; sons John (Joanne) Rockwood, Michael (Yvonne) Rockwood, and Tom (Gwen) Rockwood; daughters Lisa (Greg) Reichelt, Lenore Broadley, Patti (Tony Perry) Bachtel, Rebecca (Steve) Dickerson, and Kelly (Rob) Lynch; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings, and infant son, David. Funeral Mass will take place at 3 p.m. with visitation starting at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 2 at All Saints Catholic Church, 19795 Holyoke Avenue, Lakeville.
