Brooks, Noreene M. Noreene McKenna Brooks died peacefully in her home on May 25, 2016, at the age of 91. Noreene was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Myrtle and Leo McKenna. She attended the University of South Dakota, where she majored in communications. On January 23, 1945, Noreene married the love of her life, Douglas Brooks, in San Antonio, Texas, where he was stationed between deployments. They were married for 67 years, making their home in Minneapolis. Together they had three children; Claudia, Pamela, and Jeffrey. Noreene's main passion was her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her other interests included her cats, bird watching, gardening, playing bridge, and being a support to her friends. Until her last years she was an active member of Brooklyn United Methodist. She was also involved in League of Women Voters, Osseo Book Club, and worked as an "Avon lady" for many years. Noreene was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, her daughter, Claudia Brooks Lindberg and her sister, Colleen Haney. Noreene is survived by her children, Pamela Buchholz (Fred), Jeffrey Brooks (Maura Bosch), and son-in-law and faithful caregiver, Richard Lindberg. She is also survived by her brother, Duane, and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, 3:00 p.m. at Brooklyn United Methodist Church. Rev. Pamela Buchholz will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 2:30 until time of service or following the service. Memorials may be given to Brooklyn United Methodist or your favorite charity.
