Anne Marjorie (Tews) Schwab

Schwab, Anne Marjorie Tews (45) of Grant, MN passed away on Sunday, May 1st at Regions Hospital in Minneapolis, peacefully and surrounded by her family. She suffered a sudden pontine hemorrhage (stroke) on April 28th. Anne was the much-loved wife of Christian Schwab, and mother of Jorie (19), JD (16), Reggie (14) and Louie (13) Schwab. She was the deeply-loved daughter of Jean and Dixon Tews (Mahtomedi), the cherished sister of Jennifer Shultz (Bob) and SallyJean Penna (David), and aunt of Anna Shultz (22), Jack Shultz (18), Abby Shultz (16), Katie Penna (8) and Rocco Penna (6). She was the treasured daughter-in-law of Joni and Lanny Neel (Corvallis, OR) and Chuck Schwab (White Bear Lake), the sister-in-law of Ryan Neel (Tabby), Peter Neel and Taylor Neel, and the aunt of Landon Neel (12). She leaves behind an extended network of cousins, aunts, uncles and many, many friends. Growing up in Mahtomedi, Anne spent countless hours sailing, skiing, making music and laughing as well as causing the occasional bit of trouble with a wide but very close network of family and friends. Her greatest loves, however, will always be her husband and four children, whom she adored, was so proud of and made her so happy and who also cause the occasional bit of trouble. She passed like she lived, surrounded by people who loved her and always doing more than anyone could imagine for those around her. Anne was a 1988 graduate of Mahtomedi High School, a 1992 graduate of Wellesley College (cum laude), a 1994 graduate of the University of Minnesota (MA in Music Education/ Music Therapy) and a 2012 graduate of Hamline University (MFA in Creative Writing). She was a certified and practicing music therapist, a piano teacher, an author and novelist ("Capsized", Polaris Publications, 2013), a mentor for writing for incarcerated felons and a teacher and leader of both adult and children's writing classes at the White Bear Center for the Arts. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, Tau Zeta Epsilon Society and the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. She was also a musician and performer, most recently as a member of the Century College Concert Band on the baritone saxophone. Anne was an intrepid blogger and an on-line writer of a Pirate Poem a Day and a daily haiku. Visitation will be at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church, 2175 1st St., White Bear Lake, MN 55110 (stjohnwilderness.org) on Thursday, May 5th from 4:00-7:00 pm, and on Friday, May 6th at 12:00 pm. The funeral service will be at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church at 1:00 pm on Friday May 6th. A reception at the church will follow the service.
