Robert Edwin Buresh

Buresh, Robert Edwin age 71, of Maplewood, passed away on February 9th from complications of ALS and Alzheimer's Disease. Survived by wife, Reggie, and daughters Suzanne (Tony) Bullock of Maple Grove and grandchildren TJ and Kayden, Julia (Chad) Wentzel of Apple Valley and granddaughter Maddie, brother David, sister Gloria McCurdy and several nephews. Preceded in death by parents Edwin and Connie Buresh. He grew up in Robbinsdale and earned his B.A., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Bob and Reggie were married in 1966. Bob had a long career as a teacher, principal and education specialist with the Minnesota Department of Education. He was an avid paleontologist, spending many summers working on dinosaur-digs in Montana and Alberta. Bob discovered a dinosaur in 2002 and it is on display at the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum in Malta, Montana. He volunteered for many years in the Paleo Lab at the Science Museum of Minnesota and was named their Volunteer of the Year in 2002. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and gardening. When his daughters, Suzy and Julie, each turned 15 he took them backpacking around Europe. The family enjoyed many epic road trips all over North America. A 10:00 a.m. service with reception to follow will be held at the White Bear Unitarian Church, 328 Maple Street, Mahtomedi, on Saturday, February 20th. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Science Museum of Minnesota are preferred.
