Phyllis Ann 'Phippy' (Paul) Jordan Phyllis Ann 'Phippy' (Paul) Jordan

Jordan, Phyllis "Phippy" Ann (Paul) age 92, born 8/07/23, died peacefully on 2/8/16 of congestive heart failure surrounded by the people she loved . Our community has lost a remarkably kind, creative and welcoming woman. A dark-haired beauty, she played the lead in her senior class play and co-founded the "Little Punks" girls club that met for 75 years. She graduated from West High School (1941) and the University of Minnesota (1945) with a degree in Home Economics. She toured Minnesota with radio personality, Cedric Adams, demonstrating cooking techniques on gas stoves. She met Ross Jordan in the alley between their parents' homes. They were married on 6/25/47 and enjoyed over 67 years together raising four children and hosting scores of college "roomers" in their Kenwood home. Phyllis was a master home-maker and social director for the family, organizing themed birthday parties, musical salons and Thanksgiving feasts fashioning dress-up costumes from Goodwill treasures. She returned to work when Melanie turned seven and taught academics to students with developmental disabilities for School District 916. She and Ross retired early to an 80 acre farm in Cloquet, MN where they remodeled an old farm house and hosted many XC ski weekends, NY's Eve parties, tennis and croquet tournaments, and Oh Hell card games. Phyllis was the consummate host, opening her heart and home to friends and family, always ready for Happy Hour or a dinner for 30. She became an accomplished watercolor and oil painter, often traveling to Elder Hostel art classes and foreign destinations like China and Panama with her sister, Dodo. Her motto: "Attitude and Oxygen!" She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Antoine Paul and Mildred Eleanor Campbell Paul; her sister, Mildred Delores (Dodo) Paul; her husband, Ross Wyman Jordan; and her son, Anthony (Tony) Charles Jordan. She is survived by her daughters Catherine V. Jordan (Steve Lick) and Melanie Jordan (David Warnest); son Chris (Renee Lemieux) and daughter-in-law, Jeannie Jordan (Tony); grandchildren Caitlin and Ryan Jordan; nephews Craig Blacklock (Honey and Charis), Darrell, Steve and Greg Jordan; nieces Judy Jordan Greene and Martha Horton (Tommy); extended family Rebecca Wallin, Dasha, Alexei and Travis Dickinson, Kevin Fischer, Mohammed Saif, Ned Bateman and many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at 3pm, First Unitarian Society (FUS) of Minneapolis, 900 Mt. Curve Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403. Family requests memorials to FUS in lieu of flowers.
