Randall L. Winton

Winton, Randall L. Age 66, of Roseville, Minnesota. Our pillar of courage; loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle; trusted colleague and friend to all. He passed away peacefully from the arms of his family into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 18, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital, St. Paul, MN, after a long and courageous struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. Randy grew up in Iron River, MI, located in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.). He proudly owned the title of "Yooper" all his life. He lived in the U.P. until high school when his parents moved to MN. Randy graduated from Southwest High School in Minneapolis in 1967. After graduation, he worked in the computer industry and as a house builder-contractor before working as a toolmaker. He went to Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis. Randy spent three decades with Owens-Illinois (O-I) as PMold / Manufacturing Specialist. He was the Molding Operations Manager when he moved a factory from the U.S. to Singapore. He then became a "Road Warrior", implementing and maintaining plastics injection mold maintenance programs at various plants located across the U.S. After his early retirement from O-I, he joined Progressive Components International Corporation (PCIC) and eventually transitioned to working with its subsidiary company, ToolingDocs, as a Global Assessment and Training Manager for the next 10 years. As a leading authority on plastics injection mold maintenance, Randy was a highly sought-after consultant and trainer by plants in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, and Asia. A talented carpenter and dedicated outdoorsman, Randy built many cabins for friends and family. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and working on his cabin near Grand Rapids, MN. Randy is survived by his wife, Susana Rizalado Aries-Winton; mother, Hazel Westerdahl (Winton), father, Lloyd L. Winton, both formerly of Iron River, MI; children, Lisa VanEps (Koert), Kaye Rosvold (Jim), Nikkolas Philomeno Rizalado Aries; sister, Deborah Lee Winton-Richards (Chuck); grandchildren, Garrett VanEps, Hannah VanEps, and Evan VanEps; nieces and nephews, Rita Richards-Hoffman and family, Anthony Richards and family, William Richards and family, and Dan Richards. A special thank you to the doctors and other medical staff especially Dr. Jay Ryu of Mayo Clinic and Dr. Gary Knudsen of HealthEast; and the staff at Handi Medical who took special care of Randy during his illness. Our deepest gratitude to Randy's employer and a special friend for their continued help and support during his journey with pulmonary fibrosis. Finally, our heartfelt thanks to the many families and friends who kept Randy and his family in their thoughts & prayers. Pulmonary fibrosis never stopped Randy. Randy lived a wonderful life with true love, peace, and contentment. His faith helped him live in the present and accept everything that he could not change. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 Hamline Ave. N., Roseville, MN on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. Luncheon will be provided following the Mass at the Parish Center. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Randy's name, a portion of which will go to the Minnesota Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group where Randy and Susana were active members.
