Lorraine Roufs

Roufs, Lorraine was called home to the Lord on Friday, November 27th, 2015, surrounded by her family. Lorraine was born on May 5th, 1926, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Vernie and Anna Brown. She was the oldest of three girls; AnnLaVerne Johnson and the little sister Audrey Johnson. Lorraine married Ken Roufs on April 7th 1945. Ken and Lorraine had four children together: Louise (Gary) Neidert, David (Laurie) Roufs, Martha (Michael) Trautmann, and Daniel (Denice) Roufs. She was devoted to her children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Lorraine supported her husband when he was called to the ministry in 1954. At the time they were parents to three young children, and Ken had not yet participated in pastoral training. It was a challenging time for the family, but Lorraine had faith in her Lord and faith in Ken. Lorraine had her own ministry in each of the parishes, becoming a significant part in each church's foundation. As a pastor's wife, she served parishes in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. Lorraine was a generous and faithful woman who encouraged everyone. She was a model to so many, with the strength and graciousness she possessed. Lorraine was a precious woman of God, and a prayer warrior for all; she will be sadly missed by all who knew and cherished her. Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken just six weeks ago, and her daughter Martha. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, December 4th, 2015 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 9925 Bailey Road Woodbury, MN 55129. Visitation will be from Noon-2:00 pm. The service will start at 2:00 pm with a lunch to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that if you know of someone or an organization that is in need of your time or money, please donate in Lorraine's honor. Or make a donation to Resurrection Lutheran Church's Building Fund. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the wonderful doctors and staff at Woodbury Health Care Center and St. Joseph's Hospital who provided care. Even in death she continues to give by donating her body to the University of Minnesota as a thank-you for the kidney she received 15 years ago.
