Briggs, Joan Artis 84 from Mahtomedi, MN and Scottsdale, AZ passed on 11-21-2015. Preceded in death by parents, Albert and Ruby Christensen; granddaughter Cally Ann Briggs. Joan graduated Washburn High School in Minneapolis and is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart from the 9th grade, Thomas Gregory Currer Briggs, married 66 years; son Gary (Nancy) Briggs; grandchildren Lee (Kim) Briggs; great-grandchildren Alexis, Hunter and Bailey; daughter Marrya Briggs; son Steve; grandson Tyler Briggs; and great grandchild Teagan; granddaughter Nicole Kilborn; great grandchildren, Cooper, Ani and Eloise; daughter Laura Nauman; grandson Ben. Joan traveled much of the world with her husband Tom. On one very special trip Tom and Joan spent a month in Calcutta, India at Mother Teresa's clinic helping the infirmed. Joan was also an avid golfer, played Master's bridge, was an active member of the Junior League, volunteered at the Next to New Shop and was involved in a number of community affairs programs, including PSA programs. Joan, died from complication of COPD and the onset of Alzheimer's. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to in-home care givers, Denise Gaffaney and Andres Wills and thanks to Health Hospice, especially Kathy B. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer's research, St. Jude Church or donors choice. Mass of Christian Burial to be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at ST. JUDE OF THE LAKE, 700 Mahtomedi Ave, Mahtomedi MN. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 PM at HONSA FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2460 East County Road E, White Bear Lake, MN. and one hour before Mass at church.
