The Venerable Dr. Irma M. Wyman

Wyman, The Venerable Dr. Irma M. age 87, of St Paul, died on November 17, 2015 after a brief illness. Born in Detroit MI, she was one of the first two women to graduate from the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan (BSEM ENG '49). Wyman was involved in nearly every aspect of the computer business at Honeywell Information Systems. In 1982 she was appointed Honeywell's first female vice president and served as chief information officer. Wyman was also appointed the first Archdeacon for the Diaconate in the history of the Episcopal Church of Minnesota. As the first woman to hold many leadership positions long dominated by men in both the church and the corporate world, Wyman paved the way for generations of women to follow. Wyman is survived by numerous cousins and many devoted friends. Funeral service is 11 am Saturday, December 5th at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove St., Minneapolis, with visitation at 9 am.
