Edward Knoll

Knoll, Edward age 92, of Ham Lake. Ed proudly served his country in World War II, participating in seven major campaigns. It was fitting that he passed on Veterans Day. Ed returned home from Europe, went to work at General Mills and later Land O' Lakes, married and started a family. Ed is survived by his wife, Sophie; four sons, Mike (Debbie), Joe, Peter (Jocelyn), and Allan (Shelley); 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Ed worked hard to provide a better life for his children and was incredibly proud of his family. They in turn loved and respected him. In a tribute to his grandfather, one of Ed's grandchildren, Derek, an Army officer currently assigned to Germany, wrote on his Facebook page: "To all those who have served to defend our country: Thank you. And to my grandpa who passed this morning, a veteran of WWII, I owe you. You were always one of my heroes. I can only hope I continue to make you proud." Ed's granddaughter, Kayla, posted: "To all of the veterans past & present thank you. And to my grandfather who served in WW II who lost his life this morning, rest in peace angel. You will be missed deeply by our family." Ed, your legacy as a member of America's "Greatest Generation" lives on through your grandchildren, members of the Millennial Generation. They will continue to make you proud, and they and the rest of your family will always be grateful for the sacrifices you and other members of your generation made to provide them with a better life. Godspeed Ed. Services are scheduled for Monday, December 7 at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior at 10 AM at Church of St. Paul's, 1740 Bunker Lake Blvd. NE, Ham Lake, MN.
