Rev Kenneth Leroy Roufs

Roufs, Rev Kenneth Leroy was called home to the Lord Tuesday, October 6th 2015, surrounded by family and his wife of more than seventy years. Ken was born on July 12th, 1924 at Fairview hospital in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Henry and Bertha Roufs. He was welcomed by two older brothers Henry "Bud" and Robert "Bob" Roufs and later welcomed his baby sister Marguerite "Tootie" Dillon. Ken married Lorraine Brown on April 7th 1945. Ken and Lorraine had four children together, Louise (Gary) Neidert, David (Laurie) Roufs, Martha (Michael) Trautmann, and Daniel (Denice) Roufs. He was devoted to his children, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Ken entered the ministry and was ordained from Luther Seminary in 1955. As an ELCA pastor he served parishes in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. He was a man who spread the Good News and wanted to help people everywhere. Ken touched and changed so many lives through the years: he was a counselor, mentor, friend and a wonderful man. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and cherished him. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Martha, and his brother Bob. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Resurrection Lutheran Church 9925 Bailey Road Woodbury, MN 55129. Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm. Service will start at 1:00pm with a lunch to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Kenneth and Lorraine Roufs Luther Seminary Endowed Scholarship. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the wonderful doctors and staff at St. Josephs Hospital who provided care. Even in death he continues to give by donating his body to the University of Minnesota as a thank you for the kidney his wife received fifteen years ago. To God be the glory!
