Marsh, Hazel June age 98 passed away on October 3, 2015. Hazel was born on Feb. 22, 1917 in Story City, Iowa to Ingval and Isabelle Thompson. Hazel married Jay Marsh in 1941 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in LaCrosse, Wl, a short time and then moved to Minneapolis. After World War II they lived in the Wayzata area. Preceded in death by her husband Jay, parents, and two sisters, Lillian and Ethel June. Survived by nephew Larry Twedt and wife Barbara of Faribault, grand nephews Mark, Brad, Gregg and niece Kellie and their children, sister-in-law Marilyn Scott of Lewiston, ID., nieces Robin and Marigay. Hazel attended the American College of Business in Des Moines. Then employed as a medical secretary for two surgeons and an MD in Des Moines. In Minneapolis she was employed by Charles W. Sexton Co., a large insurance agency for several years; receptionist for Pillsbury Co. a short time before accepting a position with the Department of Agriculture. Hazel and Jay went on trips-golf-hunting-fishing and attended Viking games together Aside from regular employment, she golfed in the same league for 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, piano, computer lessons and musicals. After being given a gift of a young golden retriever, she began to learn how to train her dogs by enrolling in Canine College and eventually earned trophies and ribbons for obedience trial in the U.S. and Canada. She also took them to care centers and rest homes. Skipper and Tami were members of Therapy Dogs International. Hazel and her dogs were also on television and print ads for different companies. Hazel has been a member of the Minnetonka Lutheran Church - has worked with the Altar Guild - Families Moving Forward and sent out letters regularly to new residents in Minnetonka and Deephaven for evangelism. Hazel thanks all of you who were always there to help in her time of need. Gifts to Animal Humane Society.
