Powers, Valerie Susan Valerie lost her battle with breast cancer on September 29, 2015. She was born in Champaign, IL, Jan. 5, 1954, moved with her family to Deephaven, MN and graduated in 1971 from Minnetonka H.S. Valerie studied at the U of MN and College of St. Catherine in the Twin Cities. She was preceded in death by father, Willard C. Powers. Valerie is survived by mother, Marilyn R. Powers, Plymouth, MN; sister, Laura Powers Thomas; niece, Rachel Thomas Ferracioli (Anthony); nephew, William Thomas (Lauren), all of Dallas, TX, and niece, Katherine Anne Thomas of Houston, TX and aunt, Joyce Snider, Urbana, IL. Valerie enjoyed several work places, always related to the use of words and thought. She loved writing, European and American history, archeology, art, and her SW Mpls neighborhood. She owned her own business, Aldrich Ink. She was kind and found humor easily. She practiced kindness and believe that was what our world needed most. Her ashes will be interred in the Columbarium at Wayzata UCC Community Church, Wayzata, MN. A celebration of Valerie's life is being planned, with time and place to be announced.
