Beisner, Andrew 71, of Minneapolis was struck and killed by a Metro bus while crossing an intersection in downtown Minneapolis on July 8. He was born in Concordia, KS, to Morris and Geraldine Beisner. He graduated from Manhattan (KS) High School, attended Harvard University and received a Master Degree in English Literature from Kansas State University. He lived Minneapolis for four decades working for Hennepin County and later the State of Minnesota as a Management Analyst until he retired. A gifted and caring person, Drew, generously participated in many organizations, focusing on those who helped others or supported the arts. He interests included The Harvard Club of Minnesota, Mensa International, The Ordway Theater, The Guthrie Theater, The Minnesota Orchestra, The Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts, Friends of the Twin Cities Men's Chorus, Gamma, Open Arms of Minnesota, and Special Olympics. His interest in helping others, led him to work with political leaders and he served as a delegate to several DFL conventions. Drew had several hobbies he loved including bridge, pinochle, tennis, and a keen interest in college fraternity and sorority heraldry. He greatly enjoyed being a Foundation Donner of Psi Sigma Kappa fraternity and actively supported their charitable work. Drew is survived by his three brothers: Bob and wife Kathy of Hillsboro, OR, Chris and wife Mary of Surprise, AZ, and Don and wife Andrina of Oklahoma City, OK, five nieces and nephews and thirteen grand nieces and nephews. In his later years, Drew had a complete hearing loss and received a cochlear ear implant. Facing this challenge, he still wanted to further knowledge and participated in different university research studies. For this reason, the family requests no flowers but suggest contributions be made for hearing research at the University of Minnesota Foundation. A celebration of life service will be held at noon October 10 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Minneapolis.
