Williams, Mary Lou 90 year old, lifelong resident of Deephaven, who was adored by many, passed away after a brief illness on 1/22/2020. Mary Lou was the mom everyone wanted. Her nurturing ways reached well beyond her three children, especially to their friends, who were always welcome in her home. Every afternoon, as the neighborhood rascals stepped off the bus, they would smell fresh baked goods and converge on Mary Lou's kitchen for an after-school snack. Sleepovers often involved more kids than you could fit in a station wagon. The gang usually awoke to warm doughnuts from Excelo Bakery, which she had picked up when the doors opened at 6am. Mary Lou volunteered many years at Sister Kinney and the American Heart Association. Her favorite activities included serving as the stage manager for talent shows at the Wayzata Country Club, water aerobics at the Marsh, and cooking for friends and family. She will be missed by many whose lives she has touched. Preceded in death by husband Lee, and son Eddie. Survived by daughters Teri (Steven) Smith and Susie (Louie) Hatch; sister Joni Wetzel; daughter-in-law Karen Williams; grandchildren Michael, Alex and Angela; nieces Dena Wetzel and Tara (Charlie Poey) Wetzel; sister-in-law Marilyn (Sam) Harbaugh; and many other family and friends. The family will hold a private service. A celebration of her life is planned for May 22, 2020, which would have been her 91st birthday. Details to follow.
