Garvey, John D. age 76, died Friday, November 15, 2019 at his home in Eden Prairie. John was born November 29, 1942 in Austin, MN to Lambert and Lorretta Garvey. He grew up in Austin. John graduated from Pacelli High School in 1960 and St. Mary's College in Winona in 1964. He subsequently obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.In 1966 John was united in marriage to Barbara Gerber at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, Minnesota. He worked for IBM and retired after 42 years. John enjoyed playing tennis and poker, and was an avid bridge player and sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Garvey, Eden Prairie, MN; two daughters, Rachel Garvey Kelly, Natick, MA, Allison Garvey, Minneapolis, MN; two grandsons, Kenan and Jack; sister, Sheila (George) Tichy, Hillsborough, CA; ten nieces; five nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Lorretta Garvey; sister, Kay Garvey Dudycha; brother-in-law, Richard Gerber. Private services are being held. Condolences: mayerfh.com
