Herman, Dora Legg Longtime Bloomington resident and prior resident of Minneapolis, Edina, Marco Island, FL, and Naples FL, died peacefully in Bloomington, MN on November 11, 2019 at the age of 99. Preceded in death by parents Harry G. and June (Welch) Legg, sister Pricilla Legg Struble, and husband Neil Bernard Herman. Survived by her children Robert (Karen) Herman of Edina, MN, and Ann (Galen) Johnson of Naples, FL, grandchildren Andrew Johnson, Kristen (Ryan) Bowlds, Alexander Herman and Sara Herman, and two great grandchildren. Born September 17, 1920 in Minneapolis, Dora was the second of two children. She was married to husband Neil on February 11, 1950. She resided in Edina raising the family. Dora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Neil maintained winter residences in Runaway Bay, Jamaica, Marco Island, Florida, and Naples, FLorida. Dora was a former golf member of Minikahda, Edina, Royal Poinciana and Marco Island Country Clubs. Dora won many amateur golf tournaments and was women's club champion at Edina and Minikahda a total of 5 years. She graduated from West High School. She went to the University of Minnesota and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. She worked for Houghton Mifflin in Boston helping to finalize books for publishing. She was a polio survivor in 1952. She was on the Board of the Twin Cities Big Sisters Organization. She loved golfing, playing bridge, creating decorative purses, and getting together with her friends. Her two great-grandchildren brought her a lot of joy in her final years. We thank the staff at Friendship Village for the wonderful care they gave Dora over the years. A memorial service will be held on November 23, 2019 at 11 AM at Friendship Village, 8100 Highwood Drive, Bloomington. The family will hold a private interment at a later date.
