Frances Berge

Berge, Frances 94, passed away on Friday January 18 at Good Samaritan Home in Inver Grove Heights. Frances was born June 19, 1924 to Victor and Signe Peterson, in Dalbo, MN. She graduated from Aitkin H.S. In 1943, she married Jule Bourgoine. They along with their five children lived south of Isle until Jule's death in May of 1964. Fran moved into Isle that year and began work at the Café and Dari-Vi. She later worked at the Isle Bakery. Frances went to Brainerd Vo-tech in 1973-74 and received an associate degree in Accounting. She worked for Mille Lacs County Social Services in Milaca for many years and then in admissions at Onamia Hospital. She met Amos Berge in 1974, and they married in Sept of 1982. They lived North of Isle until May 1992, when Amos died. They loved to travel, dance, bowl, garden and attend many auctions. Fran loved reading, playing cards, restoring antiques, and garage sales. She also loved being around her family. She had a feisty nature and wisdom she loved to share. She lived a long and meaningful life. Preceded in death by parents Victor and Signe, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, 1 nephew and son Alan. Survived by children, Sandra Bourgoine, Carol Olson, Mike (Lori) Bourgoine and Elizabeth (Martin) Showalter, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Service and Celebration of Life will be held 1 pm, April 6 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Malmo, MN. Luncheon to follow. Memorials to Minnesota Braille & Talking Books Library.
