Beamon, Barry Jerome Age 55, of Monroe, SD, passed away on December 6, 2018, in Sioux Falls, SD, after a courageous fight against colorectal cancer. Barry was born September 20, 1963, in Washington, DC. He grew up in Apple Valley, MN, during most of his middle school and high school years and he graduated from Highland Park High School, Highland Park, IL, in 1981. He received certificates in auto/vehicle mechanics, auto technology and diesel engines from Dakota County Technical College, Rosemount, MN; College of Lake County, Gayslake, IL; and Century College, White Bear Lake, MN. Barry completed truck driver training at The Transportation Centers for Excellence, Inver Grove Heights, MN. He also served four years in the U.S. Army. Barry is survived by his mother, Sylvia Sugars Beamon of Apple Valley, MN; one son, Dominick Jerome Beamon of Apple Valley, MN; a very special friend, Beth Skaff of Salem, SD; four aunts: Christine Sugars Edwards of Portsmouth, VA; Gloria P. Sugars of Stone Mountain, GA; Jean Sugars of Philadelphia, PA; and Ruth Sugars of Silver Spring, MD; three uncles: Earl L. Sugars (Edna) of Upper Marlboro, MD; James Sugars (Helen) of Clayton, NC; and Lorenzo Sugars (Edna) of Chesapeake, VA and many cousins, especially William Beamon of Suffolk, VA and Faith Beamon Neuman of Washington, DC. Barry was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed shooting his guns at the gun range, horseback riding, motor cycle riding, shooting his bow, ice fishing, fishing in his boat, grilling and building barn fires with his friends. He enjoyed life and was outside whenever he had the chance to do so. Barry also had fun taking photographs and watching movies. He was preceded in death by his father, Major Louis E. Beamon, USA (Retired), his sister, Dr. Benita M. Beamon and his grandparents Earl and Esther Sugars and Dorsey and Lillian Beamon. Memorial services will be held at the VFW in Apple Valley at 12:00 (noon) on February 23, 2019 and burial will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN at 1:00 p.m. on February 26, 2019.
