McConville, Irene Anne Age 84, passed away on January 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hector and Anne (Franey) Schumacher; brothers, James and Robert Schumacher. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles; children, Susan (Jon) Erickson, Margaret (Aaron) Voigt, Kathryn (Patrick) Fox, and Matthew (Dianne) McConville; 10 grandchildren. Irene was a life-long resident of Minneapolis and loved the city. She graduated from Academy of Holy Angels and received her teaching degree from the College of St. Catherine. For many years she taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Our Lady of Victory and St. Joan of Arc in Minneapolis. She met Chuck, the love of her life, in 1957 and together they raised 4 children. Irene had many life-long friends and was active in her church. She was a legend in the SW Minneapolis garage sales circuit for having spectacular sales. Irene & Chuck spent many weekends at their cabin in Wisconsin where she gardened, enjoyed evening pontoon rides, and played cards and socialized with all the cabin neighbors. In 2004, Chuck and Irene began spending their winters in Naples, FL where she made many friends from all over the country. Irene will be remembered as a loving caretaker to many. In addition to her family, she took care of many babies and children in the neighborhood, cared for many elderly neighbors, and never stopped sending birthday cards regardless of your age. Irene was very artistic and especially liked woodworking, painting and writing in her journal. Above all, she was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. Her wonderful sense of humor, love of peanut butter, slot machines and family will not be forgotten. Special thanks to Grace Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living.
