Melodie Lynn Cooper

Cooper, Melodie Lynn of Maple- wood, MN. June 24, 1962 - January 13, 2019. Gone to be with Jesus. Beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt, cousin, friend and housemate. She knew her own mind, was clever and her loved ones were always in her thoughts. She was friendly and sociable and she did the best impersonation of the Wicked Witch of the West. Born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome, Mel had more than her share of challenges. But her light shown brightly and she taught us so much about compassion and strength, taking what life handed her with diginity. Melodie was a longtime resident of Lutheran Social Services Group Homes and most recently a participant at Metro Work Center. She is preceded in death by her father, John Cooper; grandparents and 2 aunts. She is survived by her mother, Janet Cooper; brother, Mark (Kim) Cooper; sister, Kristen Cooper; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials preferred to Lutheran Social Services disability services or Metro Work Center. Funeral 11 AM Saturday, January 19 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 9201 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington. Visitation at 10 AM and after the service at the church. Private interment Dawn Valley Memorial Park.
