Heitz, Kenneth Roman Age 79, of Grey Cloud Island Township, formerly of St. Bonifacius, passed away November 13, 2018. Ken was a History teacher at North St. Paul High School for the majority of his professional life. He shared a love of traveling with his wife Cindy and at fortunate times with children. He put his passion for history, other cultures, and geography into these excursions and through his teaching and research he made many foreign friends. Ken loved playing Sheep's Head with his brothers and many cribbage games with family and his friends in Cottage Grove and St Paul, and finally with his partner and good friend Neil. For many years Ken supported the Minnesota Historical Society and has one of his published books there. For years Ken participated in the St Bonifacius Historical Society writing many Newsletters and other documents. Most of all Ken was devoted to his family and his happiest times were spent with them.Preceded in death by parents, Clem and Ruth; son, John Schoenecker Bradley and grandson, baby Kyle. Survived by loving wife of 36 years, Cindy Schoenecker; children: Lynn Girard, Steve (Kari), Greg (Stephanie), Lisa (Tony) Lewis, Lisa Schoenecker and Nick (Emily); grandchildren: Craig, Cory, Kirsten (Jeff), Anna, Erik, Alex, Brad, Tim, Kendra (Nate), Tyler, Christina and Annabelle; great-granddaughter, Audrey; siblings: Roy, Duane (Jane), Dale (Joan), Jim (Shari), Jeannette (Jerry) Boley, Joyce Johnson and Bert (Judy) and many more relatives and friends. One of Ken's favorite quotes that characterizes much of his life is from Carl Sagan, "We're made of Star Stuff. We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself." Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17 at Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina. Visitation one hour prior to service. The family encourages those with caring stories of Ken to share them during the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Minnesota Humane Society, the Red Cross or charity of donor's choice.
