McDonough, Kathleen (O'Mahony) Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and caring staff at St Therese in Woodbury. Kay was a resilient mother of eleven who never lost her spirit as she succumbed to complications of Alzheimer's and dementia on October 19. She retained her distinctive Boston accent though she saw Minnesota as her true home. A forceful advocate for those who needed a voice, Kay was a long term supporter of and worker on behalf of immigrants, minorities, underprivileged and those living with disabilities - though she was most forceful when she was advocating on behalf of her children. Long time Stillwater resident she could be seen at daily mass, attending school events at St Mike's, walking Stillwater's beautiful streets with a smile and friendly word for all or as a nurse on the nightshift at the Lakeview Memorial Hospital. She influenced the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and serenity. Preceded in death by her devoted husband, William J.; treasured son, Stephen; and angelic granddaughter, Allyson. Kay will be greatly missed by her surviving children: Fr. Kevin, William (Brent), Katia (Melanie), Mary (Paul), Gerry (Paula), Patrick (Karen), Sean (Amy), Denis (Karin), Anna (Ian), James (Angela); her grandchildren, Colman, Jeremy, Hannah, Christopher, Jimmy, Sean, Grace, William, Mary, Addie, Liam, Teddy, Joseph, Clare, Tommy; and her great grandson, Jasper. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27 at the Church of Saint Michael, 611 S. 3rd St., Stillwater, MN 55082. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Incarnation Catholic Church, 3817 Pleasant Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55409 as well as one hour prior to the Mass in the church atrium at Saint Michael's. Burial will be at Saint Michael's Cemetery, Bayport, MN. Honor her memory by making donations to Incarnation Catholic Church or Lakeview Memorial Hospital (Stillwater).
