Wingate, Walter M. "Bud" Age 93, of Minnetonka, passed away at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington on July 8, 2018, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. Bud is survived by children Nancy (Tom) DeLapp of Plymouth, Walter (Gabriele) Wingate, Jr. of Newfields, NH, Charles (Pam) Wingate of Dallas, TX, Mark (Inger Marie) Wingate of Oslo, Norway; grandchildren Kit Wingate, Peter and Tracey Wingate, Alexander, Christopher and Cathrine Marie Wingate. Preceded in death by parents Walter and Marjorie Wingate, and wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Wingate. Bud was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 26, 1924. He attended The Blake School and Dartmouth College, graduating in 1948 after three years in the US Navy, having served as a pilot. Bud worked as a Sales Manager for Russell Miller, Peavey Company and finally ConAgra, from which he retired in 1989. He had a lifelong love of sailing, whether in the competitive world of the Minnetonka Yachting Association as a young man, or in later years with his family aboard the B & B on Lake Minnetonka. He loved his yard work, had a busy, well stocked workshop, and spent countless hours with Betty watching the boys participate in football, hockey and baseball games. Bud especially enjoyed afternoons on Nancy's deck overlooking Gleason Lake with family and friends, as well as hosting Men's Bridge Club there. He was a loving husband and father. A staple for decades were Bud's Sunday calls to the children to check in and offer advice when asked. In his final years, he had a unique and endearing way of getting a smile from those around him. Bud will be missed tremendously. In lieu of flowers, Memorials preferred to donor's choice or Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, MN 55318.
