Jerry Wayne Snider

Snider, Jerry Wayne died peacefully of complications with Alzheimer's at the Shorewood Senior Living Center in Excelsior, MN, on June 9, 2018, at age 75, with his family at his side. Preceded in death by his parents Hazel and RC Snider, brother Raymond and great nephew Patrick, all of Salisbury, NC. Jerry was a loving husband to Kathy (Cain); dear father to Andy (Anne), Travis (Vanessa), and Alex (Angee); doting grandfather to Mason, Anna, Chloe, and Marvin; brother to Janice Harris (Doug) and Raymond Snider (Prue); uncle and friend to many. Born and raised in Salisbury, NC, Jerry graduated from nearby Wake Forest University where he met his beloved wife, Kathy. As newlyweds, they began their life together teaching elementary school along the Texas/Mexico border. Jerry then attended the University of Houston Law School, which led to a clerkship in 1969-70 with the US Supreme Court for Chief Justice Warren Burger and Justice Tom Clark. The next 41 years were spent practicing law and raising his family in Minneapolis. Jerry was a highly acclaimed trial attorney with Faegre and Benson LLP (now Faegre Baker Daniels). In addition to his active trial practice, Jerry served 12 years on the Management Committee of the Faegre law firm. It was Jerry's great privilege to focus on the trials and appeals of complex civil cases. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and earned many accolades in the Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA Leading Lawyer in Business Litigation, and others. Jerry was well loved and respected by his fellow attorneys. He has a large fan base with the younger attorneys with whom he worked and mentored. During his retirement, Jerry continued to provide legal counsel to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Married for 52 years, Jerry loved sharing his faith with Kathy, gardening, reading, along with, family time spent on Christmas Lake. Gathering with the grandkids was pure joy and they all truly adored him. He was wise, quick witted, fun and playful. Jerry attended many years of Bible Study Fellowship and became an active member of Ridgewood Church in Minnetonka. He was attuned to the needs of many friends at Ridgewood and also a legal counselor to some. Jerry was a kind-hearted, generous person who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
