Hunstiger, Tim 71, died peacefully May 9 of progressive peripheral neuro-pathy. Remembering him are his wife Marty Lewis-Hunstiger & daughter Gretta Hunstiger (Matt McDonough); brothers Mark (Linda), Leo (Caryn), Paul (Teresa), and Patrick; sisters Theresa Huber (Mike) and Beth Ann Gregory (Kevin); sister-in-law Mary Anna Hunstiger; and many other family members and friends. Preceded by parents Leo and Yvonne and former wife Monica. Tim was born in St. Cloud, loved summers at the farm there, and lived several places in The Cities til the family moved to LA. He was proud of high school classmate Jennifer Warnes, hanging out in Dick Dale's garage, and knowing Righteous Brother Bill Medley. He was drafted in 1966 so joined the Air Force and spent a wonderful year in Turkey. Tim believed he died the first time in Viet Nam in 1969 when he was severely wounded and exposed to toxic agents, and that all the time since has been a gift. He returned home and married Monica Largent; they had three children, sons Kallen (Lynn and family) and Stig (Julie and family) and daughter Amy Evans (Ron and family). He later returned to Mpls, met and married Marty, and lived in his beloved Nordeast. Despite his physical and psychological injuries, he worked hard at many different jobs and enjoyed travel, music (especially Gretta's), sports, computers, and culinary arts. Tim donated his body to the U of M Anatomy Bequest Program. When they've learned all they can, he'll be buried at Ft. Snelling. A celebration of Tim's life will be at University Lutheran Church of Hope, 601 13th Ave SE, Mpls, June 9 at 11am.
