Hill, David F. "Dai" Born in Blaenavon, Wales, UK on January 25, 1946. Passed away on April 27, 2018 at the age of 72. Dave settled in the US after years of touring Europe and the US with such artists/bands as James Brown, Fats Domino, Uriah Heep, Gary Glitter and the Glitter Band, Phil Collins and the Moody Blues. His positions ranged from Sound Engineer and Tour Manager to Backline Production and Drum Technician. Dave worked at Rocket Studios in New York City before coming to Minnesota to work as Monitor Engineer and Production Manager for the Hoopsnakes. He was House Sound Engineer for Brewbaker's Saloon, Eatery and Nightclub in North St. Paul and later for Decoy's Grill and Bar in Hopkins, MN. David was a proud member of the Royal Air Force Reserves into his young adult years until he chose the path of music. He shared his passion for aircraft and the military as a volunteer at the Polar Aviation Museum in Anoka County. Dave was known for his professionalism and high standards for sound quality, his quiet authority, his deep affection and loyalty to his friends. And for his stories, especially from his years in the music industry during the 70's and 80's. Preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mary. Survived by his wife Irene Ghatt (aka Irene Hill). There will be no formal service. The benefit to celebrate Dave's life has been moved from June 23rd to October 13th, 2018 at the Medina Ballroom in Medina, MN. Memorial donations to Shriner's Hospitals for Children Twin Cities, St Jude Children's Hospital Minnesota, Our Lady of Peace Hospice, and Parkinson's organizations in lieu of flowers.
