Sweet, Halayne Irene age 84, of Edina, MN entered into eternal life on May 12, 2018. Halayne was born on August 31, 1933 in Madison County, Iowa to the late Irl Samuel and Anna Elizabeth (Rischmiller) Sweet. Halayne graduated from Martensdale High School and then worked for the Social Security Administration while farming with her husband near Des Moines, IA. After moving with her family to a farm near Bernadotte, MN in 1967, she worked as a secretary at Winthrop High School and Peace Lutheran church. Halayne later moved to Mankato, MN where she managed Cayol Natural Foods before moving to Edina, MN in 2012. Halayne enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and spending time with her family. She participated in several Bible Study groups and was an avid reader. Halayne will be remembered for her fashionable style, quick wit and unwavering love for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Cecil Eugene Sweet and sister Carol Jo Millican. Survived by her children Melissa Hansen (Jason Johnson) of Minneapolis, MN and Mark Hansen of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren Derek Zollner (Vanessa), Miranda Evans (Erik), Aaron and Allysa Koethe; and great grandchild Sig Evans; sisters Irlene Johnson, Marjorie Boyd, Dorothy Hauck; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering to remember Halayne will be held on Friday, August 31 at Montpelier Cemetery in Madison County, IA. There will be time to share memories and enjoy light appetizers and beverages from 4:00-5:30. Memorials preferred to American Heart Association.
